Meet the Team

At Apex Learning Center, our tutors are a collaborative team of academically accomplished educators and subject specialists who bring deep classroom and one-on-one teaching experience to every session. We share a common commitment to clear instruction, high standards, and supportive guidance for students at every level.

Drawing on strong academic backgrounds across core subjects and test preparation, our team uses proven strategies to build skills, confidence, and independent learning habits. Together, we align methods, resources, and best practices to deliver consistent, high-quality tutoring for Detroit-area learners.

History & Social Studies

Emily C

Emily earned her Master’s degree in Education with a focus on social studies and has classroom teaching experience at the secondary level. She specializes in history, civics, and exam preparation, helping students think critically about the world around them. Emily is committed to fostering analytical skills and encouraging thoughtful discussion. She believes understanding the past builds stronger futures. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to historical sites, photography, and baking.

Biology & Chemistry

Sophia P

Sophia holds a degree in Biomedical Science and worked in a clinical research lab before transitioning to education. She specializes in biology and chemistry, guiding students through foundational concepts and advanced coursework. Sophia is passionate about making science engaging and relatable, often connecting lessons to real-life medical and environmental topics. She finds fulfillment in helping students overcome academic anxiety. Outside of tutoring, Sophia enjoys gardening, yoga, and volunteering at community health events.

English & Writing

Marcus L

Marcus earned his Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and previously worked in publishing and content development. He specializes in essay writing, reading comprehension, and test preparation. Marcus focuses on helping students find their voice while strengthening grammar and structure. His goal is to make writing feel approachable and empowering. In his free time, Marcus enjoys creative writing, attending book clubs, and hiking local trails.

Mathematics & Physics

Daniel F

Daniel holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and spent several years working in product design before discovering his passion for teaching. He specializes in algebra, calculus, and physics, helping students build strong problem-solving foundations. Daniel enjoys breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and showing real-world applications of math and science. He believes confidence is key to academic success. Outside of tutoring, Daniel enjoys woodworking, cycling, and participating in local robotics workshops.
